You know, we have yet to actually see Shura in combat, but thus far, I don’t think he’s that smart. I mean, making a public announcement that you’re going to destroy all machines just to lure out Ziggy? Even if that did lure Ziggy out, the damage to the Nero Empire would be near-irreparable. Either way, he would lose something. But his biggest mistake is the one that he doesn’t even realize he’s making. He pissed off Shiki, and that’s going to be his downfall.
You know what I love the most about the sci-fi genre? Epic space battles! A grand showdown between fleets that span entire star systems and light up the heavens! From the final battle of Mass Effect 3 to the legendary battles of Star Wars, space battles are some of the biggest spectacles one can see in fiction. And now Edens Zero is about to have what will hopefully be the first of many epic space battles. It’s Galactica vs. Interstelar in the space above Nero 66!
Edens Zero Chapter 137 & 138 Review/Recap We knew that this was going to happen. First, the events on Foresta turned people against machines. Then, Shura announced that they were … Continue Reading The Aoi War Kicks Off In Two-Chapter Special
So, you know how they say “don’t judge a book by its cover?” That’s a very important lesson to know. Even the biggest and scariest person in the world can end up being a total sweetheart underneath. Case in point, we learn that Goodwin, the leader of Oasis, may look like a tiger, but he’s a total kitty. At least, for some people.
What do you do when you’re an evil robotic overlord who wants to make robots the masters of the universe? You start a war, turn everyone against your kind, and then wait for the robots to flock to your side while the other side reacts like you expect. That’s basically a summary of what Demon King Ziggy’s done in the Aoi Cosmos. As a result, Shura, the bloodthirsty son of the ruler of the Aoi Cosmos, plans to wipe out all machines. And the only ones who can stop the madness are Shiki and the Edens Zero. But getting to Shura will require a trip to a certain desert planet, and seeking out an oasis from Laguna’s past.
Pop quiz: do you guys know why sports movie or anything that involves a lot of training includes a montage? Because if we had to sit through all the training, then we’d get bored super fast. Also, given how risque some of the training the heroes of Edens Zero is, it’s for the best. This week, Edens Zero finishes its training, gets back on the road, and back on the hunt for Ziggy!
Our adventures on the planet Red Cave came to an end last week, but we learned a lot of new info. There are relics scattered across the universe that are filled with Mother’s Ether. Collect the Ether, and it can lead the way to Mother. It’s simple on paper, but nothing ever goes that simple in a story. Also, remember how I said that Shiki may end up angering Nero, the ruler of the Aoi Cosmos? I fear that we may be building up to just that.
Shiki’s grandpa Ziggy came back to life, only to attack Shiki and the others. Then he claims that he no longer sees organics as worth being friends with. And with the newly arrived Edens One, he plans to conquer the cosmos and have machines rule over all. And I don’t buy it for a second! I don’t think Ziggy is evil, but only time will tell.
Well, people, we knew that this chapter was going to be a very emotional one. Have some tissues ready, just in case, because Shiki is going to need them before we’re done.
We all remember what happened the first time that Shiki tried to stand up to Drakken Joe. We saw him get brutally murdered by the crime lord, traumatizing poor Rebecca and leaving her with PTSD. Even with the reset button Mashima gave the manga, the fact remains that Shiki’s outmatched against Joe. However, this is a Shonen manga. In Shonen manga, when the hero faces a villain stronger than them, they have to get stronger. In other words, unless we want a repeat of the execution site, Shiki has to get tougher.
I heard somewhere that the hallmark of a good story is it’s ability to make you feel certain emotions. You laugh when the characters are having fun, you cry when they’re suffering, and you whoop in jubilation at their triumphs. As of today, let there be no doubt that Hiro Mashima’s made a great story with Edens Zero. And this chapter was a tearjerker.
The new chapter of Edens Zero is up on my blog. Its all about what it means to carry one’s will, even when others mock you for it.
This one is going to get a little weird. Whether its the good or bad kind of weird, though, the jury’s still out.
We got two chapters of Eden’s Zero back to back today, people!
In this chapter, we learn what was that broke Hermit into what she is today.
Just when I thought the Digitalis Arc was over, Jamilov has one more surprise left for our heroes.
