All right, Training’s Over. Back on the Road to Ziggy!

Pop quiz: do you guys know why sports movie or anything that involves a lot of training includes a montage? Because if we had to sit through all the training, then we’d get bored super fast. Also, given how risque some of the training the heroes of Edens Zero is, it’s for the best. This week, Edens Zero finishes its training, gets back on the road, and back on the hunt for Ziggy!

Oceans 6 Appears! Start the Hunt for Ziggy!

The war for Foresta’s come to an end, and all that’s left is for each faction to pick up the pieces. Now that Shiki knows what his Grandpa will do, he’s more determined than ever to stop him/bring him to his senses. However, Edens Zero isn’t the only group after Ziggy. Emperor Nero’s Elite Guard, the Oceans 6, have set their sights on the Demon King. In other words, the heroes will have a new enemy to fight in the near future! And what’s worse: Shura’s leading them!

Finally, A Smile of Hope from Kleene

After about four months of fighting, more fighting, and confronting emotional trauma, the Foresta Arc seems to be coming to an end. Ziggy’s mad plans for Foresta have been thwarted, the machines have come to their senses, and the whole planet can begin to heal. And mourn the ones they lost. In the long-term, this will lead to potential strife and discord in the Aoi Cosmos. However, in the short-term, the Edens Zero gained an important victory with the defeat of Muller. Now, for the first time, we get to see Kleene truly smile. And it is beautiful!!

Dude! Justice is A Total Jerk!

Before we start, I would like to say that I had no clue that there was a new chapter of Edens Zero last week. I thought the manga was on break for the Holidays. And I picked a bad time to drop the ball, too. Remember how my last review called Justice a Knight Templar? I’m considering upgrading him to Sakazuki levels of jerkass after reading the latest chapter.

Ah great! Edens Zero’s Got A Knight Templar now!

Have you ever heard of the ‘Knight Templar’ trope? It’s a person or group in a work of fiction that think they’re on the side of good. However, their methods are so hardcore that they’re just as bad as the enemies they fight; sometimes worse! To my dismay, that Justice guy in Edens Zero falls right into the Knight Templar category as he picks a fight with someone that he should be (at least) neutral to: Shiki.

Hermit Confronts Her Traumatic Past

I’ve been a fan of Hiro Mashima’s work as a mangaka for several years now. And when you follow a particular writer or artist for some time, you tend to notice recurring themes in their work. Firstly, Mashima seems to be a fan of giving the main heroes traumatic backstories. Secondly, those backstories end up coming back to haunt the heroes in the present day. In this case, we see Hermit come face-to-face with the hideous man who made her the emotional wreck she was when Shiki found her.

Don’t Call Rebecca a Bimbo

In the two and a half years since Edens Zero started, I’ve gotten a good feel for Rebecca Bluegarden’s personality. The main heroine of the manga is many things: she’s brave and selfless; she’s great at video games. She can get a little ax-crazy when using her guns. And yes, she’s a little bit…kinky. But if there’s one thing that Rebecca isn’t, it’s a bimbo. Why bring this up? Because she uses the new chapter to prove why she’s not one, that’s why!

Homura Sends Mora to the Glue Factory!

You know who I’ve been wanting to see get their butt handed to them on a silver platter for the last month? Mora, that sociopathic glue guy from the Nero Commandos. From his cavalier attitude as he casually murders machines, to his pesky glue powers, I hate the guy. I’ve been wanting to see him what he deserves. Then when the heroes and villains get split up for their obligatory one-on-one fights, Homura gets stuck with Glue Guy. Despite my worries, though, this chapter sees the swordswoman beat Mora into the ground. That, and Mashima makes a Marvel Comics reference!

Fan service Achieves Running Gag Status in Edens Zero

Congratulations, Hiro Mashima, for you have done it. You have managed to take the concept of fan service and made it into one of the biggest running gags in Edens Zero. If memory serves, you’ve managed to fit in at least one scene in each arc that sees a girl’s clothes get damaged. And Rebecca is usually the unfortunate recipient of the fan service.

The War Against Machines Begins on Foresta

Well, it looks my predictions from the last few posts are turning out to be accurate. Shiki and his crew are about to get involved in a three way war on Foresta. The crew of Edens Zero vs. Emperor Nero’s team of purgers vs. the machines that Ziggy drove crazy. And judging by how this chapter ends, it’s going to be a tough fight.

Edens Zero Chapter 113 Cover Page- In the Doghouse

Edens Zero is in the Doghouse

In the last chapter of Edens Zero, we got an exposition dump on how to find Mother: gather Relics that have her Ether, and it will lead the way. Which brings us to Shiki’s next stop, the planet Foresta. A planet that it seems Ziggy already made a mess of. This week, we see just what he did to the planet. And to be honest, it’s nothing like what I imagined. They’re in the doghouse now!
