Family Matters on Guest Filled DuckTales
Sometimes, TV gives something that comes at just the right time on the right day to really stand out. Today, DuckTales managed to do just that. Their latest episode, which is about family matters, isn’t just conviently coming out the week of Thanksgiving, but it also marks another important day. Today, November 23rd, marks the 57th birthday of the famous sci-fi franchise Doctor Who. Scrooge McDuck’s played by David Tennant, famous for being the 10th incarnation of the Doctor. And then there’s the fact Michelle Gomez, who played The Master on Doctor Who for three years, guest stars in this episode. And the episode airs on her birthday.

When people ship fictional characters and then see them get together, they act like everything will be perfect from then on. That’s even if said ship becomes canon in a story’s grand finale. However, in the real world, finding your soulmate’s half the battle. The other half involves the effort that goes into growing and maintaining a healthy relationship whilst working through problems. Despite getting together in the series finale, Princess Bubblegum and Marcilene still have a lot of baggage that they need to work through. And Obsidian sees them do just that while also answering some lingering questions about their history.

Ah, the wonder of childhood. A time when the world’s new, exciting, and a grand adventure to be had! For Donald and Della Duck, though, it ended up being just that when they got to spend time with their Uncle Scrooge. We all know that Scrooge, Donald, and Della went on countless adventures in their younger days. Until now, though, we’ve never gotten to see what it was like for them. This week’s episode of DuckTales! gives us an adorable heaping of the past as we see the trio’s first adventure!

The Duck Boys Show How Far They’ve Come
The major theme to the third season of the reboot of DuckTales! has been the idea of legacy. Since the start, Huey, Dewey, and Louie have been following in the legacy of those that came before them: Scrooge, Donald, Della, and many others. And without even realizing it, they’ve become incredibly badass as a result of all their adventures. As the race against F.O.W.L. is on in this episode, we get to see just how far the Duck Boys have come, and I love it!
Fear and Paranoia Grip the Duck Family in New DuckTales
Last week, Disney XD’s amazing reboot of DuckTales up-ended itself with F.O.W.L. being forced into the open. Worse still, they learn that it’s led by a member of Scrooge’s own Board of Directors. That revelation has rocked the Duck Family to its core, and left them a paranoid mess. And when you consider the lengths that Scrooge will go to keep those he loves safe, that’s a recipe for disaster. And nothing but a good time for us.

Kipo Ends Its Run as One of the Best Cartoons of 2020
I know I’m beating a dead horse by saying that 2020 stinks, but it’s the truth. This year, for mankind as a whole, has stunk! One of the few silver linings (aside from new video games and consoles) is that this year’s been good to animation. And besides The Owl House, one new show I’ll fondly remember from 2020 has to be Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
Amphibia Returns for A Halloween Anthology
While we won’t be seeing more of the show until 2021, Disney was nice enough to give us one more new episode of Amphibia to tide us over until then. And it’s a Halloween special, to boot! Granted, this won’t be the first time Amphibia has given us episodes that are perfect for the Halloween season. That’s not the point, though. The point is that we got some more Amphibia, and I’m not passing up a chance to review it. That, and I want to give my two cents on the stories being told.
DuckTales Reminds Me Immortality is Overrated
Ahh, the Fountain of Youth; that mythical wellspring of water that’s said to restore the youth of those who drink it, granting nigh immortality. As such, it’s easily one of the most popular tropes found in adventure stories, and a perfect fit for the likes of DuckTales! Especially when you have the likes of Scrooge and Goldie and their love/hate relationship in play in this week’s episode.
