Can We End the Reunion Arc Now?

Edens Zero Chapter 245 Review/Recap
Okay, I’m done with this reunion arc. We’ve seen the Crew of Edens reunite, only for things to go off the rails in ways that no one could’ve imagined. All of this culminated in the return of the Muller, who had this insane plan to use the Aoi Empire’s antimatter bombs, plus Rebecca’s Ether, to travel through time. Thankfully, not only did it fail and end with Muller dying, it let Shiki fulfill a vow that he’d made on Guilst. He managed to befriend Shura, the man who was once one of his greatest enemies.
This seems a lot like One Piece right now.

Recap

Three days after the defeat of Muller, the Empire hosts a grand banquet celebrating the end of hostilities in the Aoi Cosmos, with the Crew of Edens attending as guests. Everyone proceeds to enjoy themselves, catch up with others, and make merry. Among the guests, though, are the Oracion Seis Interstelar, who surprisingly reveal that they know how the Crew of Edens remembers everything from the previous worlds. They offer to discuss it further on the planet Red Cave, but for now, they’re needed on the stage.

In light of recent events, Shura publicly owns up to the brutal means by which the Aoi Empire was formed, and how it has become a threat to the Aoi Cosmos. As a result, he announces that he’s abolishing the Imperial Government in favor of a republic. Before doing that, though, he wishes to express his gratitude to the Crew of Edens for helping them in this crisis. Much to Shiki and the other’s disbelief, they’re brought before the Cosmos and given a hero’s salute in honor of their bravery. At last, Shiki and Shura are now friends!

Review

Well, this was unexpected, but not unpleasant. This proves once and for all that the Shura of Universe Zero is nothing like who he was in the previous timelines, and thank heavens for that. I’m not sure if this is true, but I heard fan talk saying that Mashima changed his character due to the sheer hatred Shura got from the fandom. If that’s true, then good for him.

The other unexpected surprise, though, is the fact that the OSI knows about the previous worlds. Something tells me that Xiao Mei knew about this somehow and told them so that they wouldn’t oppose Shiki, unlike in the previous world, where they labeled him one of the Oracion Seis Galactica. Either way, this will make their quest to fight O.N.E. Void easier in the long run.
Overall, though, I’m hoping that this chapter marks the end of the Reunion Arc. At first, it was fun seeing this abridged retelling of the series play out, but now it’s overstayed its welcome. It’s time for new stories to be told, and for the manga to get closer to the true final battle. Fingers crossed, they find Captain Connor and Rebecca’s mother soon so we can get on with it!

Yeah; this arc kind of DOES need to be over with, doesn’t it? But we’ve still got Red Cave and the abridgement of Kaede to get through. Something tells me the Kaede Redux is going to be BETTER than the original, just from Lady Freya, Lightning Law, and God Acnoella being present(I can’t WAIT for Shiki’s rematch). But we’ve still got some things before we go to the Yuki Cosmos.
