The ONE Void Draws Near!

Edens Zero Chapter 236 Review/Recap

No one ever said that the final battle would be easy, but this is just nuts. In the last chapter, we learned, and Shiki and the Crew of Edens learned, that the Edens One isn’t just a ship anymore. Now, it’s a full-blown machine called the ONE Void. On top of this, this week we learn that not only does ONE Void have the Four Dark Stars on his side, but the Oracion Seis Galactica. In other words, Shiki and the others are going to be facing a bunch of enemies, both old and new. And some of them might even be familiar faces.

As Pino explains to her comrades, the Edens One of Universe 0 already has its own body, one that’s even stronger than Ziggy ever was. It created this using the Mobius System from Lendard, giving birth to the O.N.E. Void. It even has the same Ether Drive as the Edens Zero. To make matters worse, the Edens One of Universe 0 is followed not only by the Dark Stars, but the Oracion Seis Galactica. In addition to names they don’t know, like Joker Helix, Lightning Law, and Lady Freya, there are names they do know: Aconella, Cure, and Xenolith, of all beings.

Everyone’s shocked that Xenolith’s part of the OSG, while Rebecca thinks Joker Helix might be a B-Cuber. However, none of that matters at the moment. Shiki’s focused on getting everyone back together, and Laguna’s next on their list. With that in mind, everyone sets a course for the Aoi Cosmos.

When they arrive on the planet Sandra, everyone starts looking for Laguna. When they find him, though, they’re horrified to see him shooting a mother in the head!

Review

There is a good deal of things that need to be unpacked, so let’s get to it. Firstly, I’m not surprised to see Aconella and Cure are still part of the OSI, though I wish that Cure was still dead. At least this time he’s not pretending to be a hero this time. However, I do question why Xenolith’s part of the OSG. There has to be some explanation that we’ve yet to learn. Given how ONE Void (I will be using that to describe the Edens One) says he’s in the Aoi Cosmos, though, I don’t think we’ll have to wait long. 

As for the three other members of the OSG that we’ve yet to encounter, I have a few ideas on who they might be. “Lightning Law” reminds me of Justice; is Justice a member of the OSG in Universe 0? As for “Joker Helix,” I have a feeling that they might be a B-Cuber we’ve already met. Imagine if it turned out to be Labilia or Couchpo? That would be bad!

As for why Laguna shot that woman, I think we’re missing context, so I refuse to jump to conclusions. I just hope the Crew of Edens can jog his memories fairly quickly and save us the trouble. One thing’s for sure, though: things are getting interesting!

Also, why did ONE Void call Mother his “Mother”?
