Rebecca Meets Her Parents

Edens Zero Chapter 217 Review/Recap
Well, the Lendard arc is officially over. Ziggy is dead, Aconella’s dead, Deadend Crow’s dead, a lot of people are dead. What’s more, the true enemy’s a rogue AI controlling the Edens One that wants to wipe out all life. This means Shiki needs to either stop them or beat them to Mother. However, now’s the time for the obligatory aftermath chapter…and for Rebecca to meet her parents.

Recap
With the fall of Lendard and most of the Oracion Seis Galactica gone, the IUA regroups elsewhere. Holy returns to her ship and tells her subordinates she’s giving up o her plan to capture Shiki. Funny enough, she planned to seduce Shiki; which isn’t really a plan.

Aboard the Edens Zero (after burying their deceased mothers), Captain Connor comes clean to Rebecca and explains that he’s her father. He learned about it from Noah while on Bluegarden while they fought the IUA. Rebecca denies this at first, since her parents abandoned her, but the others note how similar they are. Hermit, for her part, had already figured it out from an offhand comment they both made.

In the Edens bath, all the girls discuss what’s happened, with Rebecca still trying to come to terms with everything. Meanwhile, Shiki and Hermit learn from Clown that he knew the truth all along, and that they were getting orders from the Edens One. After another flashback, everyone’s attention gets dragged elsewhere. Sister announces that Rachel’s waking up.

Review

Well, there’s no denying it any longer: Captain Connor really is Rebecca’s father. They’re both big eaters, they eat the same way, and even use similar terms. In addition, Connor’s seen many of Rebecca’s videos and supports her goals. Even the NSFW video where she poured honey down her cleavage.

At least he’s open-minded about what his daughter does. However, the realization that Rebecca’s mom abandoned them both warrants more information. I doubt she did it out of malice…unlike Homura’s deadbeat mom.
Parental issues aside, the flashback of Sister and Clown via Shiki’s power shows that the Shining Stars and Dark Stars are connected. Could they be visions from Universe Zero, somehow? I hope we learn more soon. And I hope Shiki tells Elsie’s crew that Elsie is gone.
This was a pretty funny chapter, in my opinion. I’m glad that Rebecca can have another chance with her parents if she wants it. That, and I found Holy’s plan to seduce Shiki to be hilarious. I doubt he would fall for that, though.
I Give “Father, Mother, and Daughter,” a 4/5
