Luffy Has the Absolute Craziest Dream, & I Love It!

One Piece Chapter 1060 Review/Recap
Luffy, you are, without a doubt, one of the craziest people I’ve ever seen. At this point, I’d count Luffy as one of the craziest people in the history of storytelling. And that goes back tens of thousands of years! And someone whose crazy enough to want to be King of the Pirates needs an equally crazy dream. And while we still don’t know what that is, the Straw Hats all agree that Luffy’s dream is crazy. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Recap

With Wano now behind them, the Straw Hats get caught up on what happened in the outside world. They take the news about the Reverie…very poorly.

Everyone agrees that there’s no way Sabo killed King Cobra. The Straw Hats present during the Alabasta Saga are distraught at the news about the King and Vivi (except Zoro and Robin.) Luffy outright suggests heading straight for Alabasta or Marie Geoise, only for Zoro to shoot it down.
Regardless, Luffy knows Sabo’s innocent, since the two of them and Ace swore to follow their dreams. In Luffy’s case, his dream was to…

We don’t hear what he says, but whatever it is, it makes everyone laugh and smile, admitting that the dream sounds like something Luffy would do.
Jewerly Bonney Appears and the Wrath of Imu

A few days pass, and the Thousand Sunny sails into a stretch of freezing ocean. As the crew works to navigate the water, they find this massive eddy above the sea. And when Zoro slashes it open, they find…Jewelry Bonney?!?

Elsewhere, the situation with Sabo goes from bad to worse. After the Marines intercept his call to the Revolutionaries, word reaches the Gorosei…and Imu. As Sabo tells his comrades what he saw at the Empty Throne, the former cuts off the Marines surveillance. Then, seemingly on Imu’s command, the island Sabo’s on…is erased from existence.

Review
…Oh my God. What just happened?
No, seriously, what did Imu just do?!? We may not know how he did it, but we know that Imu was responsible for destroying Kingdom. Do the Celestial Dragons have the equivalent of nukes? Or could it be that they’re in control of one of the Ancient Weapons? Either way, they have power that most of the world doesn’t even know exists!
The Celestial Dragons True Power
Note how I said the Celestial Dragons, and not the World Government or Marines as a whole. That’s because it seems like this is the sort of thing that not even the Marines know about. The fact that the Gorosei cut off the Marines eavesdropping when Sabo brought up Imu means they don’t want anyone outside of themselves to know the truth about them. In other words, they’re willing to wipe out nations and erase their existence to keep this secret hidden. Was this how God Valley was destroyed?
I don’t believe that Sabo’s dead, by the way. Unless I see his body, I consider him alive. No way would Oda wipe him out like this. But the people of that island might very well be dead. Imu’s going to regret this.
Only Luffy Could Come Up With That Kind of Dream
On the lighter side of news, let’s talk about Luffy’s dream. We still don’t know what that dream might be, but once Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, he thinks he’ll be able to accomplish it. And whatever it is, it’s enough to make everyone who hears about it laugh until they cry. That includes his brothers, Shanks, and the Straw Hats now. However, we still don’t know what that dream is. We can still guess, though.
There’s one big fan theory about what Luffy’s dream is: to throw a party. A party so big, the entire world will come and enjoy it; everyone laughing and drinking and enjoying themselves together. It’s insane, it sounds impossible, and it sounds like the sort of thing that Luffy, a man who loves parties, would do. And if that’s what his dream is, then it’s going to be the greatest party in all of fiction. And fans all over the world will join in the fun, too.
We still don’t know what’s next for Luffy. However, given that they found Bonney, and she was at the Reverie and likely saw what happened, we may learn for ourselves soon enough. We have to. The World Government will throw everything it has at the Straw Hats to keep them from reaching the last Road Poneglyph. Bring it on.
I Give “Luffy’s Dream” a 4.5/5
