Edens Zero Chapter 154 Review/Recap

Before I was into Hiro Mashima, one of my big manga loves had to be Naruto. Granted, the reveal of the final villain left some things to be desired, but all that ninjutsu was amazing! So, when Hiro Mashima gave us the cyborg ninja, Jinn, I was understandably excited. However, the only thing better than one ninja is two ninja’s fighting each other! And as it turns out, Callum of the Ocean’s 6 is trained in the ways of ninjutsu! It’s time for a ninja fight!

As for Jinn, he gets a big surprise: he knows Callum!

Nine years ago, Jinn and Callum trained at the Skymech Dojo of ninjutsu as sparring partners. However, Jinn could never beat Callum, a fact that remains apparent in the present day. Callum keeps overpowering Jinn, and worse, he uses his Ether Gear to start turning his body into steam!

I have to say, I did not expect to see another ninja in Edens Zero, but I’m not complaining. And while some may complain about the fact Callum and Jinn trained together and say it makes the manga’s universe too small, I don’t mind. Having to face a fellow practictioner of ninjutsu, one that he could never beat, is a good hurdle for Jinn to overcome. If all goes well, he may unlock his own Overdrive. For real, this time.

As far as battle powers, this chapter confirms that Callum’s Ether is mist-based. He can convert himself and anything else he touches into mist. It’s a good foil to Jinn’s wind-based powers, but one Jinn can overcome. He just has to literally blow Callum beyond the point that he can fight.

While I’m still looking forward to seeing the real fight between Shiki and Shura, I have to say, the fight between the heroes and the Ocean’s 6 is turning out to be very entertaining. I just hope Rebecca doesn’t have to reset time again.

I Give “Skymech Ninjutsu” a 3.5/5. Bonus Points Since Young Callum Looks Like Android 17!
