Edens Zero Chapter 139
You know what I love the most about the sci-fi genre? Epic space battles! A grand showdown between fleets that span entire star systems and light up the heavens! From the final battle of Mass Effect 3 to the legendary battles of Star Wars, space battles are some of the biggest spectacles one can see in fiction. And now Edens Zero is about to have what will hopefully be the first of many epic space battles. It’s Galactica vs. Interstelar in the space above Nero 66!
Having arrived in the space above Nero 66, Eraser of the Oracion Seis Interstelar leads his 250 ships against Shura’s more than 3,200 fleet. Despite being outnumbered 13:1, Eraser won’t back down. The space battle for the fate of the Aoi Cosmos erupts, with both sides throwing everything that they have at each other.
Eraser’s fleet puts up a good fight despite being heavily outnumbered. However, Shura’s sheer numbers begin to eat away at the enemy. That is, until Eraser charges up his Ether, letting him activate the power that earned him the moniker “White Flash.” His Ether lets him erase anything he wants from existence. Using that power, he manages to decimate Shura’s fleet and prepares to carve a path to Nero 66.
Elsewhere, in the space above Sandra, Oasis and the Edens Zero get word of the skirmish taking place. Realizing that it’s their best chance to reach Shura and take him down, the two groups join forces and prepare to defeat Shura and destroy the All-Link.
I said this before in the fight between the Edens Zero and the Edens One, but I’ll say it again. The space battles in this manga are pretty epic to look at! And now that the anime’s out, I can’t wait to see how smooth and fluid they’ll be in animated form.
Unfortuntaely for everyone outside of Japan, we have to wait several more months. Netflix bought the streaming rights to the series, and they’re stupidly waiting until the season’s over to release it in the Fall. Yeah, I’m not waiting for that to happen, and most fans aren’t going to, either.
Bad business decisions aside, I think that this chapter’s going to look great when the anime finally adapts it. In addition, it also reminds us of how much of a sociopath Shura. We saw kill one of his soldiers for sassing him! SASSING HIM!
As bad as things may seem at the moment, there’s one silver lining to all this. Shura remains ignorant to the existence of Shiki and unaware that he’s coming for him. Which means the heroes may have an actual chance at kicking his ass! I can’t wait for the fight to come!
I Give “White Flash” a 3/5
