Animation’s Going to Own this Summer

I Geek out Over the New Teasers for Amphibia and The Owl House

Even with how rotten 2020’s been, It’s nice to know that there’s still things that I can honestly look forward to. And considering how this week’s going to have the premiere of a show I know I’ll love and the return of two shows I already love, I am one happy camper. Earlier today, Disney released teasers showing what’s next for its shows Amphibia, Big City Greens, and The Owl House. And I knew that I just had to come here and gush about them.

Amphibia on the Road

Shout-out to Hyper Potions on Twitter, who made the remix for this teaser

As we’ve already learned, Season Two will see Anne and the Plantars leave the Valley behind to find Anne a way home. Their best bet: the distant city of Newtopia. So the four head out on what I can only surmise will be the road-trip of a lifetime.

If the first season was about building the world, then this season will be about exploring it in all its glory. And, by god, does this trailer show us a lot of amazing things! What am I looking forward to the most, though? Firstly, the fact that Anne may reunite with her friend Marcy (and it will hopefully go better than with Sasha.) Secondly, is the episode “Wax Museum,” a cameo/pseudo-crossover from Amphibia‘s parent show, Gravity Falls.

Gravity Falls makes a Pseudo-crossover with Amphibia in Season 2 of the show

Premiering on August 8th, “Wax Museum” will see the gang come to a tourist trap run by this world’s versions of Stan Pines and Soos. The best part? Alex Hirsch will be voicing both of them! If this episode doesn’t trend on Twitter, I’m gonna go crazy! Right now, things are looking pretty bright for Amphibia.

The Owl House Gets Crazier

Another Gravity Falls alumni show that I’m stoked to see return is The Owl House with the second half of its first season. And based on this trailer, there’s a lot to look forward to. From what’s seen in the trailer, Luz begins to attend Hexside and builds on her relationships with Gus, Willow, and Amity (with some LuzAmity moments thrown in). As for Eda and Lilith, we see the two team up against someone. Could they be hunting the one who cursed Eda years ago? In addition, we may be getting our first look at the Emperor of the Boiling Isles. Or at least, it could be the Emperor.

But the thing that surprised me most of all? The very end shows Luz’s mom coming through the door into the Boiling Isles. Luz is busted!

It may not seem like a big deal, but remember, Mrs. Noceda thinks her daughters at that dumb Reality Camp, and Luz lied to her about it. The fact that she arrives in the Boiling Isles means that Luz is going to face her mom, who will be understandably angry.

Will Mrs. Noceda try to take her daughter back home? That’s likely. My guess is that Luz will have to stand up to her mom and let her know that she’s happier in the Boiling Isles than she ever was back home. Part of growing up is learning to make your own choices in life, even if your parents don’t approve of them. I’m not worried; it’s just going to be awkward, is all.

That’s All, Folks!

Well, that’s all I wanted to get out, folks. What do you guys think? What are your thoughts on how the shows will turn out? Let me know in the comments!
